Safety
If you are in danger, call 911 right away.
Before you meet
- Keep the chat in OnlySwap. Don’t move to other apps before the deal.
- Check the listing photos and ask questions.
- Don’t send photos of your ID, your room number or anything with your address.
- Plan the meetup in the app so you both see the time and place.
- Send the meetup link to a friend.
Where to meet
- Pick a Meetup spot or a busy public place on campus, in daylight if you can.
- Some spots are labeled “Police-designated”. We use that label only when campus police have confirmed the spot, and we show the date.
- Never meet in a dorm room, a car, or somewhere empty.
Paying
- Pay in person, after you’ve checked the item.
- Never pay before you meet, and never send a deposit.
- OnlySwap never asks for payment or your password.
If something feels off
- Leave. You can cancel the meetup any time.
- Block and report the person from the chat or their profile. A real person reviews every report.
- For anything urgent, call 911 first.
Scams to watch for
- “Send a deposit to hold it.”
- Asking you to pay with gift cards.
- Pushing you to chat somewhere else right away.
- A price that seems too good to be true.
